Collagen Bone Broth Soup Recipe

Ingredients

  • The Bones from 2 to 3 Rotisserie Chickens
  • 8 full Scoops of collagen peptide protein powder
  • 1 medium peeled and halved onion 
  • 3 Stalks of Celery
  • 2 Carrots
  • 1 Tablespoon of cider vinegar
  • 2-4 garlic cloves (smashed)
  • Water (Instant Pot: 10-11 cups – Slow Cooker: 12 cups – Stock Pot: 6 cups)

Instructions:

Instant Pot Method (2 hours pressure cooked)

  1. Put roasting bones and gathered pan juices into an instant pot.
  2. Add in celery, garlic cloves, onion, carrots, apple cider, salt, and vinegar.
  3. Add in 10-11 cups of water, until you reach 2/3 of the max fill line in the pot.
  4. Select option ‘Soup or Broth’ and set the time to 120 mins.
  5. It will warm up and cook on high pressure for 120 mins. 
  6. When cooking is done, wait 30 minutes to naturally depressurize.
  7. Using a towel release pressure by switching the valve at the top from ‘Sealed’ to ‘Venting’
  8. Strain and Store (instructions at the end).

Stovetop Method (15 hours simmering)

  1. Put roasting bones and gathered pan juices into a stockpot.
  2. Add 16 cups of filtered water alongside salt, apple cider, and vinegar.
  3. Bring the mix to boil then reduce the heat to a simmer.
  4. Cover and simmer on low heat for 6 hours then add celery, garlic cloves, onion, and carrots.
  5. Strain and Store (instructions at the end).

Crockpot Method (15 hours on low)

  1. Put roasting bones and gathered pan juices into a Crockpot
  2. Add 12 cups of filtered water alongside salt, apple cider, and vinegar. Then set it to low heat for 15 hrs.
  3. After 6 hours on low heat, add celery, garlic cloves, onion, and carrots.
  4. Continue cooking on a low simmer for another 9 hours for a total of 15 hours of cooking time.
  5. You can let it go longer depending on the time you want it.
  6. Strain and Store (instructions below).

 

How to Strain and Store Chicken Stock

  1. Strain soup through a fine-mesh sieve and into a second pot, extracting as much liquid as possible
  2. Discard the solids left.
  3. Cool the strained stock to room temperature, then cover and refrigerate.
  4. Store in the fridge for 3-5 days or place it into freezer-safe containers and freeze up to 3 months
  5. If freezing, leave some space in containers for its expansion.
